Takashima City in Shiga Prefecture is an area of such heavy rain and high humidity that showers are called “Takashima” showers. When threads are appropriately moist, the weave is stronger, and weaving was widespread there from the Edo period. Takashima canvas is characterized by its strength, the result of expertise built up throughout its long history. It is quite strong enough to support heavy objects placed within it. The shape is convenient in use and comes with internal pockets. The dyes used are derived from plants, and they are individually dyed and washed by hand.

Precautions for use
Since it is dyed, there will be some color fading due to friction and wetting. Please be careful especially on rainy days or when wearing white clothes. Washing method: Wash by hand in lukewarm water at 30°C (86°F) and hang dry in the shade. Avoid chlorine bleach and tumble drying.
