We created a new product with Kamiyama Kobo, the maker of "Kobiki soap rests. It is made using the "kobiki" technique, in which red clay is coated with a white make-up and then glazed and fired. In the process of white make-up, the vessel is dipped into the white mud by holding the base of the vessel at the bottom to create an even and smooth texture. The cup is lovely in that it has no handle, is rustic, and fits snugly in the hand. In order to make it last as long as possible, the cups are "mokuteki," or "stoppered," cooked in rice bran soup after being fired in a kettle. It is sure to make anything from juice and coffee to beer taste better. For more information about Kamiyama Kobo, please visit Story " Touching the Earth as if Playing".
