Product Development Story
Q1: Why did you decide to develop a product made from red pine trees?
We focused on the red pine trees that grow abundantly in the region. After consulting with the town's forestry cooperative, we learned that red pine needles that could be used as raw materials for cosmetics were being discarded at logging sites. We wanted to make effective use of these previously unused leaves to create environmentally friendly products.
Q2: What attracted you to red pine trees?
What was most appealing to me was its fresh and deep aroma. The forest bathing ingredients (phytoncide) such as alpha-pinene and limonene contained in the leaves of red pine trees give us a feeling of clarity and calmness, as if we were taking a deep breath in a forest. We felt that wild red pine trees grown at the northern foothills of Fuji are an attractive material that fits well with the manufacturing process of "Hokuroku Sosui," which places importance on the power of plants.
Q3: What points were you particularly particular about in the development of the product?
We paid special attention to the fragrance so that when washing the body and face, one can feel a relaxing sensation as if one were in a forest. We blended extracts of red pine needles from the northern foothills of Fuji, soaked in underground water, to give a sense of the materials used to make the product. We also adjusted the amount of magwa leaves so that the lather of the soap would not be affected and the plant would be felt closer to you.
Q4: Who would you like to use your soap?
The relaxing fragrance is recommended for people who need a change of pace or a break from housework, and who want to take time out of their day to relax.
